Last reviewed: September 4, 2026. Size It Up Daily is a visual estimation game, not a precision reference. The values below support the proportional drawings and result notes. Natural specimens vary, manufactured products have multiple models, and landmarks can have more than one defensible measurement.
When a round uses a representative value, the interface says so through the object name or result wording. When a published value follows a specific convention—such as architectural height, full height to tip, main bridge span, or monument including pedestal—the round keeps that convention on both sides of the comparison.
Space
Planetary diameters
Earth, Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn rounds use approximate mean or commonly published diameters from NASA Solar System Exploration and NASA planetary fact materials. The game converts kilometres to metres before calculating ratios. Planet graphics are schematic circles; rings are decorative and do not change Saturn’s stated diameter.
Space Shuttle orbiter
The Space Shuttle comparison uses an orbiter length of approximately 37.2 metres, based on NASA’s Space Shuttle reference. It does not represent the full launch stack with external tank and boosters.
Animals
Blue whale and killer whale
Blue whale and orca maximum-length comparisons follow species overviews from NOAA Fisheries: blue whale and NOAA Fisheries: killer whale. These are upper-end biological examples, not an average for every animal.
Giraffe and African bush elephant
Representative adult heights are rounded from zoological references including the San Diego Zoo giraffe profile and the University of Michigan’s African bush elephant profile. Elephant height is measured at the shoulder; giraffe height reaches the head.
Emperor penguin and polar bear
The emperor penguin uses a representative upper standing height near 1.15 metres, informed by the Australian Antarctic Program. The polar bear comparison uses a representative large adult body length; sex, age, and measuring posture produce substantial variation.
Landmarks and structures
Eiffel Tower
The current 330-metre height comes from the tower operator’s key figures. Historical sources may show lower figures because antennas changed the total height.
Statue of Liberty
The game uses roughly 93 metres from ground to torch, including the pedestal, following the U.S. National Park Service statue statistics. The statue alone is much shorter, so “including pedestal” is part of the round convention.
Burj Khalifa and Empire State Building
Burj Khalifa uses the published 828-metre architectural height from its official facts and figures. Empire State Building rounds use 443.2 metres to the tip, based on the building’s official facts, rather than the lower roof height.
Elizabeth Tower, Great Pyramid, and Colosseum
Elizabeth Tower’s 96-metre height follows UK Parliament’s Big Ben information. The Great Pyramid uses a present height around 138.5 metres rather than its original height. The Colosseum uses an outer-wall height around 48 metres; the simplified icon does not model its full elliptical footprint.
General Sherman
The giant sequoia’s height is approximately 83.8 metres, from the U.S. National Park Service General Sherman profile. Tree height can be remeasured, so this record is reviewed periodically.
Golden Gate and Brooklyn Bridge
Bridge rounds compare main spans, not total approaches. The Golden Gate main span is 1,280 metres according to the Golden Gate Bridge district. The Brooklyn Bridge main span is about 486.3 metres, consistent with New York City bridge information.
Titanic
RMS Titanic rounds use an overall length near 269.1 metres. The ship silhouette is a generic side profile; it is not a reproduction of archival art or a scale drawing of individual decks.
Everyday and manufactured references
Boeing 747-8
The target is specifically the 747-8, with an overall length near 76.3 metres from Boeing’s aircraft information. Earlier 747 variants have different lengths.
Football pitch
The game uses a 105-metre pitch as a representative international-match anchor within the ranges defined by the International Football Association Board. Real fields can legally vary.
Sports balls
Tennis-ball and size 7 basketball diameters are calculated from their governing circumference ranges, then rounded for play. Ball compression, inflation, and manufacturing tolerances make excessive decimal precision unhelpful.
Adult, door, bed, and city bus
These are deliberately labeled representative anchors. The game uses 1.7 metres for an adult, 2.03 metres for a common door height and king-bed length, and 12 metres for a standard single-deck city bus. Regional standards, vehicle models, and individual bodies differ.
Silhouette artwork and licences
The comparison drawings use independently licensed vector artwork, recolored and proportionally resized for the game. The Boeing 747-8 profile is adapted from Peter Lowden’s Boeing 747-8 silhouette under CC BY-SA 4.0. The Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty profiles come from CC0 files on Wikimedia Commons; the Burj Khalifa and Boort Empire State Building profiles come from public-domain OpenClipart records.

Corrections and updates
A correction should identify the two objects, the measurement axis, the value currently shown, the proposed value, and a public source. Preference goes to the organization responsible for the object, a government or scientific institution, a standards body, or a manufacturer for model-specific dimensions.
Editorial updates change the round record and this page together. A source change does not rewrite a player’s already stored score, because daily results remain only in the player’s browser.
